You can use THRYVE Communities to record a bicycle ride with your phone GPS. Your cycling route, distance, duration, speed, ride history, and photos are saved to your THRYVE account so you can review and share the ride later.

THRYVE is useful for training rides, weekend rides, group cycling, commuting routes, and community rides. It helps you keep a ride history without separating route tracking from the people you ride with.

Before Starting Your Bicycle Ride

Open THRYVE before rolling out and make sure location access is enabled. Precise location helps create a cleaner cycling route, especially on neighborhood roads, bike lanes, and trail-adjacent routes.

For longer rides, check your battery and allow THRYVE to keep recording in the background while your phone is locked or mounted.

  • Enable location permissions for THRYVE.
  • Allow precise location for accurate route tracking.
  • Keep enough battery for the full ride.
  • Start recording before your group leaves.

Start Recording in THRYVE

Tap the center button on the bottom tab bar, wait for GPS, then tap Start and choose Bike. THRYVE begins tracking your bicycle route, distance, ride time, and speed.

For group cycling, start the recording before the route begins so your ride history includes the full route from meetup to finish.

  1. Open THRYVE and go to the ride recording screen.
  2. Check that location permission is active.
  3. Tap Start, then select Bike when the bicycle ride begins.
  4. Keep THRYVE recording until the ride is complete.

View Live Route and Cycling Stats

While recording, THRYVE shows your route and live ride stats. You can review distance, duration, current speed, max speed, and current location as the ride continues.

Those details help with training rides, weekend loops, commuting routes, and cycling groups that want to repeat a saved route.

  • Route trace
  • Distance
  • Duration
  • Current speed
  • Max speed
  • Start and end points

Pause, Resume, and Finish

Pause if you stop for water, repairs, traffic, or a meetup. Resume before riding again so the saved activity matches the route you actually completed.

When the bicycle ride is finished, end the recording, review the summary, then add photos and a caption before saving.

  1. Tap Pause during stops you do not want counted.
  2. Tap Resume before continuing the ride.
  3. Tap End when the ride is finished.
  4. Add photos or a caption, then save the activity.

Review Ride History and Share the Route

Saved bicycle rides appear in your THRYVE activity history. You can review past cycling routes, compare ride stats, and share route attachments with friends or groups.

This is helpful for weekend ride planning, group cycling routes, and finding the same route again later.

Add Your Bicycle to Garage

The Garage lets you add bicycles with photos, make, model, and year. Add your current bike so your profile reflects the bicycle you ride most often.

If you ride multiple bikes, keep each one in your Garage and choose the active vehicle that matches the ride you are sharing.

Troubleshooting Bicycle GPS Recording

If your bicycle route has missing sections or straight lines, check location permission, precise location, background recording, battery settings, and GPS signal.

THRYVE can record while offline and sync later, but your phone still needs GPS access to save a reliable route.

  • Turn precise location on.
  • Allow background location while recording.
  • Keep your phone positioned for a stable GPS signal.
  • Keep THRYVE updated before long cycling routes.
